Famous for all the right reasons, this throwback resort is essentially just a few chairlifts servicing a few trails over an expansive, forested layout. Few locals ever see the groomed runs, as Sutton's claim to fame is the sous-bois or glades (i.e. skiing in the trees), which range from fairly wide-open to impossibly tight. The base lodge is a warm, rustic cabin with excellent cafeteria food, a fire, and lots of good cheer. Sutton lies just over an hour east of the city along highways 10 and 139.
