Situated on the border of the Old Town, St-Marie Castle is currently home to the Government of the Canton of Vaud. The most interesting way to reach the castle is to climb the 160 covered steps to the Cathedral. A short walk through the medieval streets brings you to the welcome sight of shaded benches and a great view of Lausanne next to the Castle. Unfortunately after all this exercise only the exterior can be appreciated due to the government offices.
