This is an eatery designed to inspire patrons with visions of China's past—even the rest-rooms feature historical relics. Wining and dining here is like participating in a secret ruling-class gathering of 40 years ago. The café is in one room of an old courtyard-style four-roomed house. Wooden doors and dark latticed wood window frames shelter couches and easy chairs. Coffee is made from beans grown in China's Yunan province, while the restaurant's menu offers dishes said to be favorites of China's early communist leaders.
