Amidst the aroma of sizzling sausage, roasted chestnuts, freshly baked gingerbread and baked apples, Munich's Christmas Market offers an array of handcrafted gifts made by local artists. Items such as toys, ceramics, woodcarvings, marionettes, candles, ornaments, and one-of-a-kind treasures are all available. The downtown district is lit with millions of twinkling lights that add to the fairytale atmosphere. Admission is free and takes place annually through December. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
