For elegant surroundings at a peasant's price, this is the place to come. Marbled floors, silk-upholstered chairs, immaculate tables and fresh flowers are just some of the flourishes that make dining here a pleasure. Vintage black and white photos of Heliopolis adorn the wood-panelled walls. The staff are well groomed and attentive, and a piano player entertains diners in the evenings. The kofta and kebabs come highly recommended. The grilled pigeon and basic pasta dishes are well done, but the international dishes can be hit-or-miss. Try the Veal Cordon Bleu with a generous baladi salad. Desserts include Om Ali and creme caramel. Alcohol is served.
