Palacio Real de Aranjuez is a marvelous baroque palace in white stone and brick surrounded by magnificent romantic gardens with fountains, wide avenues and minor palaces alongside the River Tajo. It contains an outstanding collection of tapestries, porcelain, lamps, clocks, and other furniture, along with paintings by Brueghel and Lucas Jordán. It served as a summer retreat for the Bourbon and Hapsburg monarchs. Check the website for timings.
