Opened as a tavern, this establishment later became a snack bar in the 40s, changing once more into the café-pastry shop of today. Here you can enjoy afternoon snacks with coffee and hot chocolate, hot chocolate with cream, iced drinks and tiger nut juice (horchata). You can also taste their delightful buns, strawberries and cream, Catalan cream (rich egg custard with a golden brown layer of caramelised sugar on top), or Mató, a typical Catalan goat's cheese (similar to cottage cheese in appearance). When served with honey, the mel i mató is an attractive contrast of tastes and textures worth trying.
