Caernarfon Castle is an architecturally stunning castle in North Whales, and looks much today as it would have when King Edward I constructed it after his conquest of 1283. Caernarfon was not only constructed for military capabilities, but also as a seat of government and royal residence. Like Edward's other castles, Caernarfon Castle is built along the shoreline, and is located at the southern end of the Menai Strait between north Wales and Anglesey. After visiting the castle, you can take a scenic stroll along the promenade up to the mouth of the River Seiont, and along the old town walls.
