Mickey Mouse advises children to make a wish upon a star, but Hong Kong grannies take their grandchildren to the Wishing Tree to make their wishes. Wishes are written onto a specially-designed red slip of paper tied onto an orange with string. There a several stalls selling these, clustered around the tree. Then, the whole thing is tossed into the air with the aim of hooking it over a branch, thereby granting the wish. And if the paper catches the top of the tree, congratulations, that means the wish will come true very soon!
