This imposing square was built for the 1896 millennium celebrations. It is dominated by the Archangel Gabriel who is surrounded by seven statues representing the chiefs of the seven Magyar tribes who settled in this area (supposedly in 896 CE). The large open space is dedicated to the Hungarian war memorial and attracts tourists, skateboarders and inline skaters by the dozens. Check out the recently restored art museums on either side of the square.
