Arcade Bistro is the latest venture from the people who opened the enduringly popular (and deservedly so) Cafe Kor. It is more upscale than it's older brother, while all the while maintaining that friendly, mostly informal atmosphere. The decor is modern and sophisticated, in an elegant and muted way. The tables are covered in beautifully white and starched tablecloths. The cutlery is heavy and shiny, while the wine glasses are very long stemmed and large bowled (the kind you feel guilty about breaking). Broad canvases of pleasant and unobtrusive modern art hang on the peachy pale walls. The service matches the decor: It's sharp and attentive, but in no way overbearing. The menu is an interesting mix of contemporary dishes. Try items like "chicken with mozzarella in cream and white wine", or "paprika veal with home made egg gnocchi". While vegetarians don't have much choice, one of the items, "stir fried tofu with vegetables", is r eally excellent. Try their scalloped potatoes: Absolutely sinfully delicious.
