The coastal town of Stokkseyri was the subject of poet Ísak Harðarsson, who in his 1995 book of poetry describes Stokkseyri as "heavenly" compared to "hellish" Reykjavík. At that time restaurant Við Fjöruborðið had not even started business, so Ísak must have had considerable foresight. Located in one of the many beautiful old buildings in what is one of Iceland's oldest fishing villages, Við Fjöruborðið does not bother with a menu, instead proffering proudly to their guests the most glorious and sumptuous lobster buffet imaginable. Immediately becoming very popular among hip people, this place is none the worse for that, and as Ísak Harðarsson says, "the only reason to leave is to be able to return".
