There is no need for discussion: in summer Lignano is one of Italy's main tourist destinations. Developed over a few Centuries, today Lignano boasts eight kilometers of beach, with an infinity of sports grounds, campsites, hotels, green areas, and amusement parks (the water park is one of the largest in Europe). Ernest Hemingway called it "The Italian Florida". In the beautiful spa area very popular among tourists from many countries, especially Austria and Germany, there are plenty of discos, classy restaurants and bars. On the beaches however, there is a top class volleyball tournament every summer. Around an hour by car from Trieste (take the A4 motorway and exit at Latisana). It is ideal for a day trip.
