For a cool retreat with fabulous views of Georgetown, the half-hour cable funicular train ride from the Air Hitam railway station is quite an experience. At its peak 800 meters (2600 feet) above sea level, savor overwhelming views of the terrain from Penang's highest peak. Alternatively, visitors can opt to take the six kilometer (four mile) hike up to the top by nature trails accessible from the Botanical Gardens. If an overnight stay with the promise of an incredible sunrise is what you are looking for, holiday bungalows are available.
