Chosica has been considered a good place for resting and partaking in leisure activities since the Trans-Andean railroad was built in the 19th century. At that time, many aristocratic families from Lima made the place their holiday home. It is known as the "Villa of the Sun" because the days are sunny throughout the year, and the weather is dry and warm here at the bottom of the mountains. Chosica has some beautiful countryside areas, which offer a great way to get out and enjoy yourself.
