Located alongside the highway is this site containing some 450 ancient petroglyphs (rock carvings). Here it is possible to make out images of spiders, foxes, pumas, alligators and fish; there is also a stone that has the appearance of a man looking towards the constellations in the night sky. Researchers have yet to properly study these remains; people with an adventurous spirit, however, travel to the zone in order to observe, in wonder, the design and stonework of the ancient peoples of Peru. Next to the highway, there are several rural restaurants. From the capital, it takes two hours to get to the site by car and three hours by bus.
