In the beautiful Mae Taeng Valley, Elephant Nature Park will capture your heart. The sanctuary is home to over 30 elephants rescued from abusive working situations. The elephants roam free on this large property run by a woman who has received international accolades for her work in bringing awareness and education for elephant issues. A day or overnight visitor can observe the elephants interacting naturally, learn about their behavior, feed them, and even bathe them in the river. Or you can volunteer for a week and get to know these gentle giants even better while making a difference. Reservations are required. – Nora Dunn
