For a small mountain town, Alpine has more than its fair share of restaurants worth the 25-minute drive from downtown San Diego. Alpine Inn was the first to become a destination in its own right. Dark woods, a low ceiling and candlelit tables contribute to a quiet, intimate atmosphere. American food rules here and that means beef and lots of it, combined with a few fish dishes and a single sandwich, the Texas Cheeseburger served with Steak Fries. Full bar service is offered.
