Perbacco, located in chic quarters in the heart of San Francisco's Financial District, presents cuisine from the Italian Piedmont region in all its glory. Dishes like Pan Roasted Sea Scallops (with warm shell bean salad and mint salmoriglio) and Beef Short Rib Stracotto (with black truffle celery root puree) are full of the absolute freshest seasonal ingredients, and presented with the utmost artfulness. Pastas, appetizers, salads, crudo and desserts are just as delightful (particularly in the extremely posh setting). See website for full dinner menu, lunch menu, bar menu, reservations and more.

Energized atmosphere; great meal. Worth the cost. Good too for solo diners--just grab a seat at the bar and ask for a menu. Ordered four dishes to get a good sample. Favorites were: the ciccioli (so bad for me waistline, but mighty tasty). Melts in your mouth. Serviced with crisp crostini, mini pickles and green tomatoes. Tastes like butter and oil in one. Very rich. Also rich are the salt cod fritters. Hint of spice, comes with garlic mayo. Favorite dish of all was the herb agnolotti filled with rabbit and truffles, served with peas and truffle oil. Heaven. Only dish that disappointed was the seared local squid with lemon. Too oily, even for me.
