This state park is but a mere 30 minutes from Colorado Springs and allows for complete forest access without needing a four-wheel drive vehicle to do so. It sports 55 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking that wind through thick stands of pine and aspen, and lend for great wildlife viewing opportunities. Fall is especially magical when the aspens become ablaze in gold. There is plenty of private tree camping. Fishing is allowed, but the action in the park's small ponds is weak.
