There are dozens of aircrafts here, everything from the Wright Brothers' Flyer and Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis to World War II planes and Apollo 11. In the Lockheed Martin IMAX Theater at National Air and Space Museum you can view one of the ever-changing films on the five-story screen. After the film, you can touch a moon rock or visit the original Star Trek model of the Enterprise. Educational exhibits introduce the ideas of aerodynamics to children and track the influence of flight technology on our culture.

A Must-see DC Museum
I spent several years growing up in NoVA and one of my favorite museum memories is from the National Air and Space Museum. I fondly remember eating astronaut ice cream and walking through a plane or shuttle. When I returned to live here as an adult, I stlll found the museum interesting and worthy of several visits.
The grand-daddy of them all
This is a tremendous place for young and old alike. The museum covers the entire history of aviation from the Wright Brothers through super-sonic flight. I can remember when it opened. I was a kid living in the DC 'burbs. I was in awe. And still am, whenever I go back.
