A popular theater event for more than 17 years, the Savannah Shakespeare Festival returns each year in May to the city's famous Forsyth Park. Savannah's Department of Cultural Affairs funds the festival, and the City Lights Theatre Company performs. Past plays have included As You Like It, Twelfth Night, Othello and Macbeth. Performances are in the evenings, and picnicking is encouraged so bring a blanket, a picnic basket, and even a bottle of wine, and sit back under the spring sky for a little Shakespeare in the park.
