Like most of the businesses on River Street, Bernies is housed in a pre-Civil War cotton warehouse. The restaurant/bar combination has the feel of an old portside pub. With a variety of sandwiches available for landlubbers, the menu also has a selection of seafood, including raw and steamed oysters, shrimp and crawfish. Low Country Boil is a traditional local dish and is worth a try while in Savannah. Bernies claims to offer the best Bloody Mary on River Street, served in a mason jar and topped with pickled okra. There is also a full bar.
