D and J Bistro may be part of a strip-mall, but for fresh, French/Mediterranean cooking at reasonable prices, you cannot go wrong with this long-time Lake Zurich bistro. The three-course prix fixe menu is also a good deal. Specialties include goat cheese tarts, duck liver mousse, rock shrimp ravioli, ostrich medallions, baby rack of lamb and creme brulee. Adventurous diners might be tempted to try the stingray. Service is refined and pleasant. In the evening, this place opens at 5 pm from Tuesday to Sunday.
