Until October 2007, La Voile was strictly in Cannes. That's right, this Boston restaurant started its life in Cannes. The one in France. The pros of this wholesale transplant? Well, authentic French food for starters, from the Bouillabaisse to the sweetbreads to the bone marrow appetizer, the food is pure French bistro. The cons? The judges are out on whether the transplanted staff can handle Boston's cyclical busyness, and there are mixed reviews on La Voile's ability to pull off a holiday prix fixe menu. Overall, though, the nautical-themed restaurant brings a taste of Southern France to the sidewalks of Newbury Street, and it is a welcome flavor.
