There is no going through the proverbial motions during this annual fiddle contest. Held along the Taneycomo Lakefront, the event attracts fiddlers from all over North America armed with the hope of winning USD4000 in prizes. Each contestant plays a waltz, a hoedown, and their own song choice. Then each player is judged on the song's danceability, old-time style, rhythm, and tone. Visitors are more than welcome to watch, and if the song feels right, dance too.
