Characterized by steep, rugged terrain and a wide variety of rock formations, the gorge is covered by a hardy population of hardwoods and pines. Linville Gorge is a wonder-filled place to hike, backpack, rock climb, fish, hunt and camp. A camping permit, which is available for free, is required.
