Located in scenic Chardon, just a ways outside of Cleveland, the Bass Lake Taverne offers American-style cooking attached to a romantic inn. The décor is rustic, with brick and earth tones mixing with simple, classy furniture. The Bass Lake Taverne is housed in a 160-year-old building, next to the small lake from which the Taverne gets its name. The menu leans towards seafood with salmon, trout, and perch, as well as sirloin, strip steak, and filet mignon. There aren't many vegetarian options, though there are several salads and sides. The desserts, such as cheesecake and fruit crisp, are notably generous. The Bass Lake Taverne appropriately hosts a full bar, several signature martinis, and a large wine selection. - Marjorie Jensen
