There is nothing so unique in Portland, as this owner-operated collective that is equal parts coffeehouse, eatery, music venue and good place to stop off for a beer or a revolution. Everything is vegan, organic and as local as possible, including a couple of rotating taps with local brews. Bring your own laptop to take advantage of free WiFi, or use their terminals. With one of the best tempeh rubens in town, well-simmered soups and delicious Cherry Bomb baked goods, they can sometimes be overrun. Just relax with some subversive literature and a beverage while waiting for your meal–it's worth the wait.
