Captain William Hilton, while out exploring in 1663, sighted the high bluffs and headlands of the island, naming it Hilton Head. English settlers began arriving in 1698, which resulted in continuing conflicts between them and the native people. This tour, offered each Friday, will give you a taste of what sea island life was like back then, examining both the native islander and plantation lifestyles. Learn about Lowcountry heritage crops and visit the historic Fish Haul Tabby Ruins, a once thriving cotton plantation. Admission: Adult USD12; Child 4-12 USD7. Reservations required.
