Set away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy part of downtown, Hominy Grill is located in the first floor of an 1897 shotgun dwelling, with its original pounded tin ceiling still in place. While the atmosphere is casually elegant, this place is all about the food: Shrimp Creole, Sautéed Shad Row with Bacon & Mushrooms, Shrimp Gumbo, Chicken Country Captain and Buttermilk Pie are some of the soul-satisfying southern dishes served here. The Friday Night Fish Fry features a fresh local catch every week. Monday through Friday the restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Saturdays and Sundays the restaurant is only open for brunch.
