If one were to guess the least likely thing to appear at the corner of South 55th and Renton avenues, Japanese gardens might come to mind. Nevertheless, beating the odds these splendid acres of lush greenery, feeding ponds and footbridges painted bright red with gold accents. Fujito Kubota, a master gardener and landscaper, gave the park to the city of Seattle in 1987. Admission is free. Plant sales are held during summer to raise funds for maintenance.

PLEASANT PLACE
Quiet, seems smaller than 20 acres. It's a nice place to walk around. It only took about a half hour to go through the whole place.
