The town of Tay Ninh is home to the main temple of the curious Cao Dai religion and well worth a visit, especially for the noon prayer session. Established in 1919, its doctrine is an east-west mix said to have been communicated by famous spirits such as Shakespeare and Lenin. The Cao Dai symbol, an all-seeing eye, and the temple decor in general are colorfully garish. Many travel companies organize combined day trips to Tay Ninh and the Cu Chi tunnels.
