While the Taj Mahal was built for the Indian empress Mumtaz, this namesake-restaurant is quite humble in it's location. However, don't be fooled by its backpacker area location as this place serves up high-quality dishes at affordable prices. The restaurant is narrow, with tables on either side of the street, plus additional tables upstairs. You can choose from an impressive menu with lots of curry choices or try the meat or vegetarian ‘Thali,’ a combination platter served with rice, bread, beans, vegetables, and chutney (a variety of condiments). Service here is very attentive including the friendly owner who is regularly checking up on customers. - Kevin Minh
