Bijoux, situated in scenic Franschoek, has a timelessly elegant colonial atmosphere with a touch of Africa. It is calming, yet alive and friendly. This unique restaurant offers a light a la carte menu in a relaxed garden or open fire atmosphere. The cigar bar and lounge stay open until late. After a subtle revamp, Bijoux has emerged a touch more refined although the essential theme of black and gold offset by animal prints still dominates. Set in two interleading rooms, one with a large and attractive bar leading to a garden terrace, the feel is light and airy. There is an international menu with local touches such as a lightly peppered springbok salad with a mustard dressing and Kalahari ostrich with a spicy guava preserve. The small wine list includes wines from the Franschhoek region.
