Doubt I will stay here again...
This hotel is not terrible, but for a 4 star hotel, there are a few things you should know before you book a room here. This might seem minor to some people, but this hotel did not have screens to prevent bugs/mosquitoes from coming in. They also didn't have a refrigerator (even a small one would have been nice). In general, the people at the front desk were nice, but not very knowledgeable. Everything at this hotel seemed to come with an extra cost, especially with beach/pool towels. If you lose the towel, they charge you 25.Also, if you plan on coming here to party with your friends like we attempted, your best bet is to either stay elsewhere or rent a car. The security comes after you if your music is too loud in your room. The night life is definitely not near this hotel and cabs aren't all that cheap. The plain mountain view (EP plan) wasn't all that, to say the least.
Doubt I will stay here again...
The room was terrible. The view was ocean view of a parking lot with razor wire. The young lady a t the desk was new, and could do nothing for me. It was like a giant old condo area. And a mere 2000 feet from the beach that I never bothered to see. If you go to a tropical island, you should not have to stay at aplace like this. Went to another hotel and travel website took care of things. This place is not even listed on Hotels.com
February vacation
We had a very enjoyable week - The staff in all departments was very friendly and helpful. We were on the All Inclusive Plan - The meals were very good - The buffet was excellent and the Italian Restaurant was really great - We would definitely go to this resort again. This was our 4th trip to St. Maartin - our first at this resort - Don't be mislead by other comments - this resort is really nice - It has had recent upgrades etc.
Doubt I will stay here again...
Complaints about comfort in room went unattended after three times. My travel companion made the comment that the dogs and cats on the island were friendly but what happened to the people!
February vacation
We transferred to the Sonesta in Maho Beach within 12 hours of staying here. Food was beyond bad, it was unedible. Had the worst dinner of our lives at La cucina. Staff was helpful, particularly when we asked to be transferred to another hotel. They did it no questions asked. The sink clogged, A/C barely worked, treadmills in gym did not work, and did I mention that the food was bad? If you are not all-inclusive here, and you dont want to be, be prepared to sign for everything, they dont accept cash anywhere in the hotel. Sonesta in Maho Beach was a million times better and didnt cost that much more money. Was worth every penny.
Great Deal
Just returned from 8 days at hotel. Recently renovated. Open-air lobby looks out to pool, beach and sea. Friendly, considerate and competent staff. Very helpful. Had "apartment" room w/fridge, sink and dishwasher but no table or utensils. 3rd floor is ground level. Below and you'll be sorry. Try to go up for any view. Room clean and fresh. Bathroom is fine. Good A/C. Satellite TV w/ NY stations, etc. Signal so-so. Same with Wifi in room. Recommend use pay-computer in Activity Center. Nice pool, bar area. Restaurant La Cucina food is awful (though the staff tries hard). Location great in daytime--walk to Philipsburg for lunch to get off beach. Great burger joints and bars, shops too. At night area quiet. Better to take a cab to Maho or someplace. Overall impression: VERY FAVORABLE.Be sure to see the island, French and Dutch sides. Hire a driver to take you around. Don't recommend a rental car; roads suck and traffic can be insane. See the bays and beaches, get to Marigot and all over French side. There are some terrific restaurants, mostly French.
