wonderful, peaceful getaway

 by  anonymous  on  2008-08-03

This was our first vacation to Aruba and first stay at the Bucuti. Having done a lot of research, we decided we definitely wanted and "eco-friendly" tourist spot and a peaceful, quiet location. We found this at the Bucuti. The location is absolutely the best on the island. The staff were helpful, very friendly and not intrusive. Rooms are not luxurious but certainly adequate and beds very comfortable which is always important. Breakfast was complimentary and a tropical feast of fresh fruits every day. Lunch was good and enough options, however, dinner was very disappointing...over-priced and poor quality. There are many other options for dining on the island but it would be nice to have a decent quality restaurant for dinner at the Bucuti. Bucuti also advertises itself as an adult resort, however we too, saw kids on beach and at pool. All in all, a wonderful hotel with a spectacular location for a vacation.

This was our first trip to Aruba. Not knowing anything about the island, we got lucky and found heaven on earth. This place is immaculate. The staff is superb. The beach is delicious. I wish I could keep this place all for myself. My wife and I are anxious to book a return trip.

The Bucuti made our honeymoon unforgettable. My husband and I stayed in the Tara Suites. The rooms were amazing, very romantic. The Bucuti has the best beach on the island. We rented a car for 3 days and each day when we left the hotel to do an activity we were so excited to return to our amazing view. We ate lunch everyday on the beach. That was a very nice bonus. The breakfast was a little weak but it was free. We were a little worried about the pool after reading many reviews but to be honest we never went in the pool. The beach was where we spent all our time. We were also considering an all inclusive resort but we are so glad we did not. The food on the island is so good. We went out to eat every night. It was so exciting to treat ourselves to a nice meal everyday and to try new cuisine. Don't worry about making any arrangements for tours or excursions, they take care of everything for you. You just let them know where you want to go and they make all of the reservations. They will leave a little note under your door after the reservation has been made. To save a little money we went to the grocery store and bought a cooler and beer. Everyday we would fill the cooler with ice and beer and head to the beach. A lot of couples did this. I hope I have helped make your decision about the Bucuti. You really can't go wrong with the Bucuti. Have a nice trip.

wonderful, peaceful getaway

We went on our honeymoon and had an EXCELLENT time. We stayed in the Tara suites and they were fantastic. Updated and modern. Some reviews complain about the mildew smell, well, welcome to the caribbean! I have been to the caribbean and have never stayed in a hotel without that smell. Bucuti does a great job keeping the mildew down with dehumidifiers. The beach is one of a kind. We went to visit the high rise hotels and they have very little beach and their beach umbrellas are no more than 5 feet from one another. At Bucuti, your closest umbrella is about 15 to 20 feet away and wide open. There is ALWAYS an umbrella open on the beach and no need to get up early to reserve one. The beach food was good. The cheeseburgers were by far the best! We did not eat at the pirates nest because the menu did not appeal to us. Driftwood was great. Blossoms was good. Pizza Bobs was good, don't expect TRUE pizza. Suggestions: DePalm snorkel tour had around 100 people snorkling, very crowded. Shop around for a smaller tour. Horseback riding was nice. Buy a cooler, beer, snacks and things at the supermarket on the first day, it will save you a lot of money. Beer at pizza Bob's was * for 4 beers, the store is closer to * a beer. The whole Island is expensive, so just realize that. We ended up buying snacks and beer and taking it to the beach everyday. The only thing we bought was the cheesburger for lunch which they brought right to our umbrella. A great, uncrowded, beautiful beach and resort. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I recently traveled to Aruba for the first time and chose to stay at the Bucuti Beach Resort for our anniversary based upon recommendation from a friend and online reviews. What interested us most about the Bucuti Beach Resort was it's "adult only" reputation, however this was not the case during our stay. Although we did not see children on the hotel premises, they were present daily on the beach as well as the hotel pool. Needless to say, this was disappointing, especially since we selected Bucuti mainly because it was advertised as "adult only". We figured since that the Bucuti Beach resort is "sandwiched" between two other resorts that are more "family friendly", there were no clear "boundaries". Not to mention that for the five days we were there, not once did we see security enforce this policy, let alone any security at all.Upon our initial check-in, we were greeted with a glass of champagne which we thought was a nice touch. Overall, the concierge and receptionists were very friendly and helpful. They booked all of our evening activities and even provided us with a detailed itinerary. However, even though we originally booked a Garden View room with a king-sized bed, we ended up with two full size beds. The room was comfortable, clean, and adequate, but I would recommend that visitors bring their own soap and shampoo since the hotel is "environmentally friendly" and does not use liquids in plastic containers. The food at the Pirate's Nest was surprisingly good and reasonably priced for a resort. We especially enjoyed a romantic dinner on the beach and highly recommend it to all couples. Overall, Bucuti is a nice resort, but be prepared to deal with crying kids on the beautiful beach, contrary to Bucuti's "theme".

very nice

Bucuti is by far the best hotel in Aruba- the accomodations are very nice, the staff is courteous and helpful, the concierge service is first rate and the beach is utterly fantastic. I would recommend Bucuti to honeymooners, young couples, anniversary celebrants and anyone else who wants a peaceful, relaxing experience. No kids- this is not that kind of resort. In fact, I was told by the staff that they would be adopting a no-kids policy next year. Food at the Pirate's Nest was good- I have seen the complaints we but did not find the basis for them during our stay. The night dinner on the beach under the palapa was fantastic. The concierge made our dinner reservations, booked island tours and set up our car rental- they were outstanding. The restaurants on Aruba were superb- I recommend El Gaucho (then go across the street to Garufa's for a cigar and martini), Papamiento, the Flying Fishbone, Driftwood, Smokey Joe's and Pizza Bob's. Truly a wonderful experience!
