Be sure to ask for an even numbered room.

 by  anonymous  on  2008-09-07

We traveled with another couple and we both were assigned odd numbered rooms (one was a mini-suite). Both rooms were very musty and the A/C did not work properly in the mini-suite. We asked for new rooms (even numbered) the next morning and got them although they both had double queen beds since they had no king bed rooms available. Other than this problem, the hotel was great!

Be sure to ask for an even numbered room.

Our stay at the Westin was the best. What makes this Hotel stand out is the staff. They will bend over backwards to make sure you are happy. It is truly a home away from home. I have read that other hotels have better pools or prices for food is cheaper. First the pools is is great but we did not spend to much time at the pool. We stayed on the beach. That is what we came for. The food in the restaurants are the best. The staff will make you feel like a king and queen. Relax and enjoy being taken care of by the best staff of any hotel.

Would stay here again

The hotel has been very recently remodeled as it was a Wyndham. There is still some construction going on so parking for a vehicle was extremely limited. The staff was very mixed some people were excellent others down right rude. The resort offers all inclusive which we did not choose. This made their restaurants extremely pricey if you did not get the AI. I would not suggest the AI as there are several great restaurants very close by, unless you plan to indulge in several cocktails at the pool/beach area as the bar prices were double the bar on the pier next door. The biggest disappointment was that the hotel pulls all the lounge chairs off the beach at 7:00 pm so you missed the sunset. The pool area is nice, but they removed the hot tub and it does not have the features that the RIU, Radisson, Hyatt or Marriott had.

Be sure to ask for an even numbered room.

Customer service is fabulous. But it is fabulous everywhere on the island as well. Ate away from hotel everyday. Way too expensive in hotel. Very safe island with great food, no need to stay on their premises to pay double for food. No activities offered at hotel. Poor air quality in the casino. Hyatt has best casino for air quality. Room very small for 3 adults. Bathroom with 1 sink, little counter space. Hard to keep yourself organized. Construction in the room above us awoke us one AM at 8:30.

Would stay here again

Just got back from Aruba and the Westin. We had the best time, the island and hotel was beautiful and we can't wait to go back. The hotel was beautiful and in the perfect location. The beach was so clean and the pool was very nice. The only thing I did not like was the air in our room, it was VERY humid and sticky in the room. If our clothes or swimsuits were wet, they did not dry in the room the entire week. Even the clothes we did not get wet ended up being damp once we packed to leave. Overall the vacation, island and resort was wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone.

Great place to stay

The staff at the Westin provided excellent service, very friendly. The beach area was magnificent. Downside was waiting in line every morning to reserve one of the palapas unless you want to pay 34 a day to reserve ahead of time, which we've never encountered at other hotels in Aruba. The automatic 17.5% service charge on all food and beverages was also a little much. We had good service, so I guess it was justified. The first room we checked into smelled musty, so they immediately gave us another room. The bellman told us that odd numbered rooms tend to have the musty smell because the winds bring in the humidity on that side of the hotel. We switched to an even numbered room and had no problems, so maybe there's truth in that. We received an invitation to a manager's reception one night with complimentary drinks and appetizers which was a nice gesture. We would recommend this hotel.
