bad timing

 by  anonymous  on  2008-07-22

Westin has a great location, we have stayed a few times before...unfortunately this time around was not a good experience, the staff was not friendly nor helpful. We asked for a particular building and was told most of it was not in use for several months therefore it was not available. Most nights there were only two restaurants opened on property which were very. The pool area was not clean, the pool bar was not open and there were not enough umbrellas also one day there were no towels...things seem to be going way down for this hotel. WE are hoping things change around for this property because it use to be great

bad timing

Our vacation was pretty much perfect. Great view, great room, great service, great food, great weather. Heavenly beds a little soft for my comfort but probably great for most. Hotel service was very friendly and helpful. Food and drinks on the high side, take advantage of the market across the street. Drinks at Hammerheads light on alchohol, high on price, the only thing that was dissapointing. Parasailing was awesome. Beautifully manicured grounds. Restaurants have excellent food, a bit high on price. Iries very good food. Room service was fast and very good food. China Grill excellent food. They add gratuity on everything so no need for additional tipping.

The staff members were friendly, helpful, welcoming - great! The rooms were gorgeous and comfortable, the grounds were beautiful AND well maintained. The beaches were perfect - lots of room, and even though we were there at the busy season, they weren't uncomfortably packed. The restaurants were quite expensive, but there was a marketplace right across the street that was much more reasonable AND there were a lot of choices. We will definitely try to come here again. My entire family had a great time - we were quite sad to leave.

bad timing

We had a wonderful time at the Westin. The room was clean and comfortable, the view was spectacular, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We could watch the sunrise from our room and listen to the birds come to life at the beginning of the day. The pools are wonderful with plenty of room for everyone - kids can play safely and not disturb those who want a quiet nap at the other end. The swim up bar was very popular, and the endless pool with lounge chairs actually in the water felt completely decadent. The spa has an incredible variety of options and the workout facility is well maintained. Restaurant choices are somewhat limited on the property - either a full buffet for breakfast or muffin and coffee from Starbucks, barfood for lunch (but you can have it brought right to your lounge chair), and 3 choices for dinner - more barfood, an asian restaurant or the very pricey Churchills. The markeplace across the street has more options and some places to buy water, beer/wine and snacks. Bottom line - if you want a warm, relaxing getaway to get you through the winter - this is a great choice.

My husband and I have been here twice and I'm sure we'll go back again. Location is nice - across the street there are several restaurants/bars/stores. Little cheaper across the street than hotel in some cases. Not a huge beach, but the pool area is quite large and was wonderful.

Beautiful location, everything else is terrible

We enjoyed the Westin and our time in Freeport very much. The hotel was adequate. We upgraded to an ocean front room. Spectacular view and well worth it. The pools and beach were just to our liking....lots of room, clean, beautiful. The entire property lovely. Had the buffet breakfast at Willy Broadleaf's every morning. It was 46 for two people. It was delicious and my husband loves breakfast so worth it for us. The food at the other restaurants was just TOO expensive. Even a Coke, a plastic cup, not a can, at the pool was 6.90 for two. Crazy. A cup of coffee in the lobby coffee stand...4...even crazier. We would go back. The start of the trip was very quiet but more families came toward the end. No spring breakers at least while we were there. We ate at the Marketplace every evening and found delicious food at reasonable prices and after 9 nights, still enough variety.
