Amenities
The Pelican Pouch is located on 3.5 acres on the southern end of the island. South Water Caye is accessible by a 45-minute boat ride just 14 miles from the town of Dangriga, in southern Belize. The island resort is located on a private 15 acre island, one of the few islands off Belize that sits right atop the barrier reef allowing guests to step off the internationally recognized South Beach. The resort facilities are designed to ensure that guests relax and enjoy the natural surrounding beauty. The accommodations (all named after resident bird species) include Belizean styled wooden cottages and spacious rooms. At mealtimes generous servings of local dishes are served on the outdoor deck with light snacks and fruit juices always available. The bar stocks cold juices, local beer, wine, and a variety of liquors. Hammocks and lounge chairs are available on the porch, beach, and scattered throughout the property. One can snorkel from the beach, take an island hopping boat tour, scuba-dive, sunbathe, kayak, or a hammock-test. Most of the cottages are two-bedroom units with each bedroom unit sold individually. With the total width of the property just under 250 feet, each building is only a few yards from the beach. The cottages and rooms are airy, colorful and spacious, designed to capture the cooling trade winds with varying features appealing to couples, families, or larger groups. Each cottage rooms have one queen-sized bed and a twin or double and bathrooms with basin, toilet, and tiled showers with hot and cold water.
