Very comfortable hotel in ideal location
The Mayfair is a great upscale property located just near the Green Park tube stop, so very accessible. It is a five minute walk to Buckingham Palace and some of the other great sites. Bed was comfortable and I love the free wireless!
Very comfortable hotel in ideal location
Would be my first choice to stay when I return to London. Well appointed rooms, excellent facilities in a great location. Stay here if you can!
PERFECT HOTEL - PERFECT LOCATION
We were in London for 5 days of sightseeing and theater, and the Mayfair was perfectly located for our needs. It was within easy walking distance of "royal London", and just a block from the tube stop. The neighborhood was clean, unlike what I had heard about London being a dirty city. The design of the hotel's interior space made it seem intimate. After an all night flight we were delighted to be able to check in at 10 a.m., and the check in was seamless. The checkin staff (not the bellman) offered to show us to our room which was a nice touch. The room itself was beautifully decorated in contemporary yet soft browns and blacks. The electrical outlets had a special plug to accommodate American voltage needs without the need for additional adaptors and convertors. Breakfast was wonderful ? a full English breakfast was one option, along with modifications of smoked salmon, steak, or ham instead of traditional bacon. Potatoes, tomatoes and mushrooms were beautifully done. In addition, a buffet table offered fresh berries (rasp, blue, black, strawberries), along with crunchy walnuts and macedemia nuts. The yogurt was from fresh Jersy cream and milk, and was thick and creamy. Muffins were unusually high. The cheese plate had 5 or 6 different varities including, I think, a kind of Stilton, along with a creamy brie and some harder cheeses. The fish plate had a variety of fishes, including smoked salmon and others which were a mystery to me but lovely. As you can tell, each morning we looked forward to this breakfast, and due to its variety never became tired of it. The room was comfortable, with big windows for natural light, and the thermostat easily adjustable for temperature fluctuations. Llghting was excellent for reading in bed. We loved the heated towel bar! The mirror for make-up, which was magnified on one side, was perfectly located in the light for make-up application. The hotel's use of large 16 oz containers of soap, conditioner and lotion, permanently fixed to the wall, was a smart "green" invention which our hoteliers should be using. Because they are refillable, there is less waste in plastic packaging for the land dumps, and less theft by consumers who take the extras they don't use. Finally, we were dellighted with "X" on the concierge staff who went out of his way to point out the most delightful walking paths, the most direct routes on the "Tube" and though he was very busy he always followed up to get back to us as promised whether it was for theater tickets or for information on restaurants. His personal attention made all the difference in what could have been a frustrating stay for newcomers in London as opposed to a delightful, easy stay. Our one difficulty? Luckily we had our paperwork from Travel agency to back us up because the hotel staff/computers did not seem to know there was to be no charge for breakfast. One other reviewer mentioned the same problem, so it seems to be something for Travel agency to address with the hotel. For us, the staff took care of the problem right away, and we were well-served. We were delighted with the hotel and would definitely stay there again.
This was my second trip to the hotel and was a chance for the hotel to redeem itself. After a significantly negative customer service experience, the hotel promised to upgrade me and improve my opinion if I returned. I did so. However, the hotel did not upgrade me as promised and put me in a room with a water leak! So, I was eventually moved a smaller room. Breakfast was promised, but I had to ask charges to be removed at checkout. The complete and total lack of a service culture destroys what should be a lovely hotel. I will never stay here again. You can do much better in London.
This hotel is delightful. It's a luxury hotel at a reasonable price. The recent refurbishment was very well done, and I've stayed in a variety of rooms and always felt comfortable. The beds are incredibly comfortable; the rooms are very modern; wireless works everywhere; and the staff is friendly and service oriented. The hotel is very near the parks, so early morning running before your morning meetings is easy. The fitness center is also excellent. I've eaten at the main restaurant three times, and the meals have always been delicious. Nobu is right across the street for great Japanese and sushi as well! All in all, a terrific, centrally located, luxury hotel.
Located in the heart of Mayfair, the hotel was a short walk to just about all major points of interest in London to include Buckingham Palace (10 minutes), Piccadilly (15 minutes) and the West End Theater District (15 minutes). The "Tube" (Metro / subway) is a block away. Tour buses (London sightseeing, Dover, Stonehenge) pick you up out front. Everything about the hotel was nearly perfect; the neighborhood is wonderful for strolling. There is even a small market across the street (how often do you see a full service supermarket in a downtown US city?) and a Starbucks for your morning caffeine fix. Nice bar scene in the lobby, as well. Could not have stayed in a better hotel.
