Great location but.......
We checked in late in the day, and received what had to be one of their least desirable rooms. It was on the first floor in a wing undergoing light renovation. It was a triangular corner room, so there was street noise from two sides. The twin sized bed is smaller than what was shown in the hotel's online brochure. We asked if any other rooms were available, and even offered to pay extra for an upgrade. The desk clerk said yes, but manager said the hotel was completely booked, and no other rooms were available. Judging by the emptiness of the lobby and hallways, and lack of "do not disturb" signs hung out, I was not convinced. Since it was a prepaid package vacation, we did not have the option to just leave and find another hotel. On the plus side, the hotel's location is great. The included English breakfast is buffet style and the food is good. Staff other than the manager were courteous and efficient. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The room was clean, but small and it was quiet with the window shut. Since there was no A/C, evenings were warm. Next trip, I'll look elsewhere. Being stuck in this room was the only blot on an otherwise lovely trip.
Great location but.......
Compliments; clean, quiet, convenient location for underground, theatres, Covent Garden, Leciester Square, good breakfast. Complaints; bathroom door wouldn't close, twin beds, smoking allowed in lobby. Cautions Large tour groups, pricey
The hotel is in an incredible location. Perfect for visits to the theatre district. However, I agree with the previous reviewer: the hallways were very difficult to navigate with large suitcases - fire doors every 10 feet and tons of them. The hotel is not on street-level and there are no ramps, so make sure your muscles are tuned-up. The rooms were very small (normal for Europe/England) and did not have a/c. It was 34-C (93-F) and the rooms did not cool off. Thankfully we only stayed one night.
