Best in Guatemala City
by anonymous on 2008-06-25
Inter-Continental really goes the extra mile for their customers in Guate. In addition to getting all of the major items right (bed, layout, helpful staff etc.), the hotel is filled with luxurious little touches that made our stay truly exceptional. Almost everyone speaks English, in case you need a phrase book respite. Security is good but not scary, which is important. My teenage track star daughter LOVED the fitness center, which is more like a small, well-equipped club. My only complaint was poor service at the overpriced breakfast buffet - but the buffet is very good. We just had a hard time getting staff attention during breakfast. All in all the hotel provided welcome comfort after weeks of traveling in rural Guatemala.

My Wife and I had a very nice experince at this hotel!!!

I do a lot of foreign traveling, and I would have to say that this hotel has been the best one so far. I had a Suite which was clean, had high speed connection, and everyone was friendly and attentive to my requests. The receptionists were very accommodating and always had a smile. I would highly recommend this to anyone willing to spend the money for a 5-star hotel. It's located in Zona Viva which is the safest area of the city, has restaurants, a mall within walking distance, and banks to exchange money.

I thought the hotel was great when I first saw the pics, but when I got there the rooms seemed less than picture perfect. I thought everything was great except for the rooms.

Our room was very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and a free airport shuttle was provided. The pastry shop at the Hotel Real was fantastic. The only disappointment was the pool; it was on the hotel?s roof in the shade of a taller building. As a result the pool area was too cold to use (early March), and was un-staffed. If the pool isn?t a consideration, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
