Not the Usual Marriott
The last time that I visited the property had to be the most embarrassing and frustrating moment I?ve ever experienced from a hotel. I reserved a stay online through their website two weeks in advance for a double room and I also requested an early check-in because of an early flight. I arrived at the hotel around 1:45 pm. Once I arrived, I spoke with Pamela who told me that my room wasn?t ready and she asked me if I could wait 30 minutes more. Since I was hungry, I agreed and stepped out to grab something to eat. I returned 2 hours later to check into my room; knowingly I have given the staff plenty of time for preparations. This time I spoke with Desiree and she told me that she had no more double rooms available at the time and that my companion can accompany me to a single room until another room was available. I disagreed and I explained to her that I was told that my room would be available an hour and half ago. She later told me that I could only receive a single room and a roll out bed. I disagreed again and explained to her that I reserved a double bed online with my credit card and that was what I expected. I spent an hour in the lobby in discussion with the staff about my room. I felt totally embarrassed waiting in the lobby while other guests had no problem checking into their rooms. A manager, whom name is X, went as far as to asking me to come into the business center and login into my Marriott account to verify that my reservation was ?guaranteed?. After showing her my reservation, she still gave me excuses. NO ROOM!
Not the Usual Marriott
The Marriott is a really good hotel. The beds were great and the room was very large and clean. The towels were a little low quality/rough, but otherwise, everything was nice. The breakfast was very good, with a good selection, but it was very slow getting through the omlete line.
I have been traveling to Honduras for 7 years, and this hotel is one of the most impressive I have stayed at. It is lcated in a gorgeous, and SAFE, part of Teguc. It is in the buisness district near many restaurants, the hospital, the art museum, and th national park. I highly recommend this location.
