Close to the vatican-not much else around.
We wanted to visit the vatican which was within walking distance. There did not seem to be much else around even a restaurant and the general location area was not very clean with grafitti around some of the public walkways and buildings. The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. The hotel room was fairly clean although the walls in the room were quite scuffed and dirty. The halls in the hotel had a dirty smell which they tried to cover up with air freshner spray.

very friendly staff, they would arrange tours and taxis for you. excellent breakfast buffet. bedroom and restroom looked clean, but my room needed a new carpet and new toilet. bathtub was ok. i got balcony on the third floor, view of wall of the vatican.
First time in Rome
I booked this room based on all the rave reviews the hotel received. I was disappointed to the fullest. The only redeeming quality of this hotel was the proximity to the Vatican. My room was NASTY - shoe prints still on the wall - all over! Some sort of droppings in the corner next to the toilet (it was never cleaned up in my 6 night stay). I found ants in the bathroom, I was on the 2nd floor and they came through the drain of the bathroom floor. Every morning at 6:30 AM I got a rude wake up call bcause the cleaning people would scrape the chairs and tables across the floor every day without fail for a half hour. I could hear my neighbors conversations through the wall. All of this was because the floors were hardwood and they didn't have carpets to keep the sound to a minimum. The staff was okay, the women were rude to me, but the men took extra time to help me when needed. As with a typical hotel in Europe, an ironing board and iron were not available. You had to pay for the service. Not all was bad, the redeeming qualites was the quality of the food at dinner, breakfast was typical American Buffet, nothing special. And the bar had reasonable prices with a great bartender!

Excellent hotel, excellent location. You can see the Vatican Dome from the front door. At least one person at the front desk spoke english at any time of day and were very helpful with tourist info, directions, calling cabs, etc. Very good breakfast buffet, but restaraunt a little pricey. Many good restaraunts within easy walking distance. Hotel very clean and safe, no worries. We would stay there again!
First time in Rome
This is an awesome, quiet place to stay with a full "real" breakfast buffet. The only small issue we had with the hotel was its location near Vatican City. It's a bit outside the central part of the city so you have to walk quite a ways to see certain sites. However, Rome is so small that we could still walk clear across the city in about 2 hours. And, taxi's are cheap there anyways. Over all, we would definitely stay here again.
A Star Hotel in Rome
This is an amazing city and this hotel allowed us to do the walking we like to do as well as being soooo close to the Vatican City. From the hotel by taxi (at a modest cost) we could get around toi see everything we had time to see and also enjoy lots olf walking....Rio de Janeiro is fantastic and Rome is also just in a different way.
