Wonderful experience with excellent service
The rooms were clean and the staff was extremely helpful. The location was close to many restaraunts; therefore it was nice to walk to most spots. The location on 7 Mile Beach was priceless. We would stay at the Grand Marriot again if we returned.
Wonderful experience with excellent service
We had a fabulous, memorable trip! We loved the Marriott! We had 2 connecting courtyard view rooms, which were very nice. The beds were very comfortable, the a/c worked wonderfully! We really had no complaints about the room/quality/cleanliness at all. The staff went out of their way to help us. My bag was lost and the front desk staff made it a mission of theirs to call American Airlines hourly for updates. That was very nice. One morning our 8 year old son went to the lobby for the ice water they leave out there, and he decided to bring back 3 cups. Next thing I knew, the bellman was knocking on the door, helping our son carry up the water cups. Funny. I would not do the pirate buffet again. The food was great, but it was very pricey and the show was not what we had hoped for. The breakfast buffet in the Red Parrot was AMAZING! Very nice people working in there.
Great Hotel, Amazing Ocean View
Am Marriott Silver Award member. Honeymooning to the Caymans. Reserved room several months ago. When making reservation, told Marriott that it was honeymoon trip. Asked for upgrade if possible. Marriott said nothing was guaranteed but it looked good (at the time: 30% occupancy). Was told request would be sent directly to an individual/office that handles special requests like this in Caymans. Arrived at 2:45 pm (advertised check in 4:00 pm). Asked about upgrade. Front desk acknowledged that request was in system but nothing had been done about it. Asked if one was available. Was told that a "Partial Oceanview" was available, but, housecleaning was cleaning room. Was told thirty minute wait. Waited for thirty. Checked on status of room. Still not ready. Reminded that check in was 4:00 pm. Comment noted while others were being checked in. Wasn't until 4:00 pm (on the nose) that room was available. Got to room. "Partial Oceanview"? Trees/possibly the design of the hotel blocking complete view of the ocean? "Partial oceanview" was canopy/roof of outdoor restaurant. You had to be over six feet to see ocean. Forget sitting on balcony. Additionally, airconditioning was broken and litter was on floor. I question when last time room was used. Spoke to front desk. No joy. Other rooms were available, but not partial oceanview. After much discussion about definition of "partial" I sensed that the series of "Partial Oceanview" rooms (242, 244, 246, and 248) were used to stash customers who voiced concerns/issues. A punishment floor so to speak. Put 'em in the rooms and shut 'em up by telling them it's an upgrade! Observation of overall quality of service: callous indifference from front desk staff and management. Front desk has power. They just don't care. Not returning. Unsat experience. Expected more from Marriott. Bush league.
Wonderful experience with excellent service
Upon arrival, we were treated very well...glasses of champagne arrived at the front desk, check in was efficient and the hotel was beautiful and clean. But when we walked into our room, it was like walking into the Travelocity commercial with the construction, except the construction noise was next door. We called the front desk who quickly found us another room, which was an upgrade (better view) at no extra charge. My friend's parents, who had the same problem, were not treated as well. In fact, the person they dealt with was rude. They spoke to a different manager. We had small problems with room service (order was incorrect) and we sent a bottle of champagne to another couple's room. An hour and half later, we called to confirm that it had been delivered and it had not. The woman we initially dealt with said it was our fault for not stating the time we wanted the champagne delivered. Once we spoke to the manager, she immediately rectified the situation. She sent the bottle and did not charge us. Unfortunately, when the receivers asked who sent the champagne, the waiter stated it was an amenity from the hotel. Overall, the staff was very courteous, efficient and our stay was pleasant. I would stay there again.
Great Hotel, Amazing Ocean View
I have been to the island many times and always stay at the Marriott every time. Have never had a problem with any part of the hotel's services. However, I saw a commercial about construction, Well..............we spent 5 nights and 6days watching the condos being built no mre that 100 feet from my balcony. I mean LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I should have called but the 3 CONVENTIONS GOING ON AT THE SAME TIME.................. made it difficult to really do anything. So, now I just laugh when I see the commercial and say "YEAH..RIGHT"!!!!!!!! However on the trip before last, there was room trouble and they "UPGRADED US" to right over the outside dining room............GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just too small
This was one of the best experiences I've ever had with a hotel, and I travel for living. The view from our balcony was outstanding. The staff was nice and accommodating. Our flight got us to the island several hours before check-in, but the desk clerk went ahead and got us in. The beach is right out the back door and is absolutely beautiful, probably the best hotel beach on the island. The hotel has ample beach chairs and umbrellas set up for you and they have a wait staff to serve you right on the beach. Red Sail sports has a office here, so there were plenty of watersport activites: scuba, snorkeling, Jet-Ski, and more. We went scuba diving every day and our room was always clean when we got back around 11:30. The dining was good, but we had a car and were able to eat elsewhere. The beachside bar was very nice with happy hour and daily drink specials. An activity schedule was slipped under our door each morning. The only thing that you need to be aware of is that some of the oceanside rooms are near the bar area which has live entertainment on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. They wrap up those shows by 9pm, but if you don't think you'll either attend or enjoy sitting on your balcony and listening to the music, you may want to ask that your room be at the south end of the hotel. Personally, we felt we had the best seat in the house for the live entertainment as well as the incredible sunsets. We drove all over the island and in our opinion the hotel had the absolute best location relative to the shopping and eating areas.
