Three nights in at the Guadalajara Holiday Inn
The hotel was ideally located for our first visit to Guadalajara because as the name implies it is right in the middle of the historical district. Other than a mixup in our bill at breakfast one morning the staff were all very helpful and attentive. The waiters at the restaurant were extremely cordial, friendly and cordial. The food at the restaurant was good, but nothing spectacular. The room was large and the king size bed was really "king-size!" Upon entering the room my wife said to me..."you done good!" The only not so good comment relates to the towels which were worn and hard. I left a written comment to the hotel chain stating they need to replace their towels. Otherwise, it was a good stay!
Three nights in at the Guadalajara Holiday Inn
This hotel is in a perfect location, within walking distance to all sites in the historical district. The staff is attentive and friendly and very accommodating. My room had to be changed once because the television didn't work properly but I was given another one within an hour three door away. My room was huge and very well kept. In room safe, dining area, in wall flat screen TV, mini bar microwave. Bed was very comfortable. Within walking distance to many restaurants and activities. La Libertad Mercado is the largest in Latin America. and a great place to explore. Taxi stands are right near the hotel and drivers were helpful, honest and all cabs were metered. Drivers knew the rate within 0.50. You can also hail taxi's anywhere on the street. They are plentiful, metered and safe. This hotel would be rated much higher if it was located in a more "suburban" neighborhood near an American style shopping center, but you would not experience any of the local flavor or color, so you might as well be staying in your own city. Taxis to crafts villages like Tonala are easy to get to and from and are a must see. There frequent are buses to Lake Chapala . Very easy to get anywhere from this hotel. There is great value for the money. I used room service for breakfast, which was pedestrian and nothing special. However there is no reason to eat at the hotel. I would return. Good for individual travellers and families. I would avoid the inner corridor rooms which do not have a view of the street and windows open to an interior of the hotel. Otherwise a great deal!
Staff was outstanding, most of them spoke English and they were very helpful. Location was great, right in the heart of old downtown. I booked two bus tours at the hotel one to Tequila and the other to Lake Chapala, they were very good. The resturant was very good, the menu was in Spanish and English. There is no separate bar. I was traveling alone the staff took good care of me. I was very pleased with my stay there, I would stay there again. The only down side of my stay was my room faced the street, great view of the city. But I got a lot street noise in my room.
Extremely satisfied with the amenities and the service. Staff friendly and helpful throughout. Within walking distance of just about anywhere you want to go. Rooms with one king bed are huge. Juarez avenue view a bit noisy on weekends.
