Could Have Been Great... BUT...
My fiance and I went to this hotel as a romantic getaway after our engagemnet party. The first day we were most impressed but then we both came down with FOOD POISONING which turn a potentially amazing vacation into a horrible one. I am not sure what food is bad or if it was the water or ice they served but my fiance never gets sick! When he went to Morrocco everyone in his group got sick except for him. He was sick for three days, and I was sick for two days. We also heard many other people hitting the bathrooms complaining. Also, beware that there are a lot of insects so keep your balconies closed at all time. If we weren't sick, here is what I would say about the hotel: 1) Excellent service and very friendly staff! 2) Rooms are just okay in the old tower but all with excellent views. If you stay in the old tower be sure to get a balcony. We were able to see the penthouse suite as well as junior suite with jacuzzi--I recommend upgrading to the junior suite with the jacuzzi on the balcony... very romantic. 3) The ocean is murky and not very clean, at least the month we went. 4) Rained every night, but clear during the day at least 5) Restaurants are great (if food wasn't bad) and the Oceana has the best SEABASS! 6) Should have more restaurants open for lunch 7) Great 24-hour room service but should include hard liquor or bottles of wine/champagne 8) Adult pool not big enough and too many people save chairs with towels early in the morning 9) Puerto Vallarta is a hideous town, but worth checking out
Could Have Been Great... BUT...
Everything about this hotel was wonderful EXCEPT for the rooms. The restaraunts were awesome with gourmet meals! The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. The pools were nice. The spa experience was awesome. The location was great because you have the lush mountains and a private beach. The ride to town was only about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, the only bad thing was the rooms. The couch and bed skirts were visibly dirty, which made it hard to relax. We put a sheet on the furniture because we felt uncomfortable sitting on a dirty couch. One of the comforter covers was torn. The beds were as hard as a rock! The room was the only negative aspect of this hotel. If the rooms were improved with new furniture, beds, and linens, I would definitely stay again!!! Would I stay again under the same circumstances- maybe for a GOOD price. The most memorable thing that I will remember forever was the turtle release program. The sea turtles come at night and lay eggs on the beach. The hotel protects the eggs from the guests by removing them and placing them in a safe place to hatch. Once the turtles hatch, the guests get to help release the turtles to the sea. They said that 1 out of 100 turtles survive in nature but with the release program it is 10 in 100. It was an amazing experience to hold the turtles and see them go to the water.
Can't wait to go back!
Exceed our expectations at all levels. The staff are so friendly, helpful, and attentive. You get your money worth! All restaurants are gourmet. Definitely return next year withe the entire family.
Could Have Been Great... BUT...
we really enjoyed this hotel, this was by far the best all-inclusive hotel we've stayed at. The service was good, if a little slow-but thats everywhere in mexico-and the resturants were all pretty good, and there is lots to choose from. With three pools and three hot-tubs, none were ever to crowded, and te location was really great. Its secluded and private, but only 5 minutes into town. We would definently go again!
Can't wait to go back!
Our vacation date also happened to fall on the 4th of July Holiday. We were pleasantly surprised when the entire hotel staff threw a huge celebration for us complete with tons of American flags, American food, & American music. They had also planned a fireworks show, but unfortunately it was rained out. Many of the staff members were dressed in red, white, & blue & also had American flags painted on their faces. How awesome, when we were in THEIR country. To top it off, they even sang the National Anthem. They made a huge deal of it & we felt right at home. The food is awesome at this resort. Favorite rest. was Portofino's. Yum yum!! We however were not impressed with the Mexican rest. We didn't visit them again after going once. Also, prepare to tip. It is not expected and is suppose to be included, but everybody tips. We felt very safe at this hotel! They always made us check out when we left the resort & check in so they knew you were safe. Great entertainment including live bands, circus, fire dancers, movies on the beach & so much more. We do plan to return. The beds are really the only downside, they are pretty hard. Staff will cater to your every need 24/7. They are BIG on customer service. Lisa from Kansas
Not a place for piece and quite
Having just returned from a week at Dreams, my family and I can honestly say we can't imagine staying at a better resort in Puerto Vallarta, and we're already thinking about going back. The resort is in an absolutely gorgeous location just south of town, nestled between the Sierra Madre mountains and its own secluded beach. The grounds are immaculately maintained - a crew even rakes the entire beach each morning to remove any seaweed that may have washed up during the night. There are plenty of lounge chairs on the beach, with a palapa for every two to provide shade from the mid-day sun (as someone who sunburns very easily, this was very much appreciated!). Although the resort seemed fairly busy during our stay, we never had a problem finding a good spot on the beach or at one of the pools to situate ourselves. There are a few beach vendors, but they respect a polite "no, gracias" and weren't at all intrusive. We ate at every restaurant and found the food, service, and presentations to all be excellent. The portions aren't huge, but we found that we were never the least bit hungry during our entire stay (we usually had to even pass up dessert!). We only had to wait one time for a table, and this was only a few minutes. One of the best aspects of the resort was the entertainment. Each night has its own theme (kareoke, Mexican fiesta, etc.) and all were very entertaining - we especially liked the "Circus" night. In addition, the Entertainment Team members go out of their way to provide fun activities throughout the day - our kids loved hanging out with them, and they made the trip so much more fun. (Thanks Alex, Carmen, Omar, Manny, and Nien!)
