Le Meridien Tahiti, situated on the beachfront in the Punaauia region, is approximately seven miles from Tahiti Faa*a International Airport. Recreational facilities include outdoor tennis courts, a sand-bottom swimming pool, kayaks and Polynesian paddle canoes, petanque, table tennis, aqua gym classes, scuba diving, dolphin discovery, and massage therapy. The hotel features a bar and two restaurants providing a wide selection of gourmet Polynesian and international cuisine. Room service is available. Very pleasant surprise.
I'd like to direct this review to experienced travelers, although perhaps honeymooners might find it of value too. This hotel was part of a three week, five resort self made tour of Polynesia. It was the best overall resort that we stayed in, at the least cost, making it a very remarkable value. The resort itself is perhaps the most 'balanced' that I've ever seen, meaning that everything was equally nice. Reception and restaurants are classic, restaurant is great food and prices in line with Polynesian norms, grounds were extremely nice and the pool stunning, the room was huge, nice, clean, and had every possible ammenity, bedding was the most comfortable we had in Polynesia, linens and towels were the biggest and softest.As for the location, it was along the coast as the city starts to thin out. Access was great either into the city or away from it. The beach itself was not large but sufficient and you could walk for miles up along the shore. The lagoon is huge with an amazing abundance of coral and fish for snorkeling if that is your thing. The view is unbroken across to Moorea to the west, which makes for nice sunsets. We were in an over-water bungalow, which was nicer and appeared newer than all others we saw and stayed in, including those that were three times the price. There are reasons that people might want to go to the other islands, but over-water bungalows shouldn't be one of them, in my opinion. I would consider going back and staying just at Le Meridien. There's to do at the resort, and undless things to explore in Papeete (beautiful city, by the way, if you get away from the wharf), and around the island. Happy travels!

My family and I only stayed one night, .We could of stayed longer. it's a beatiful hotel with view of the island of Moorea. You can snorrrkel right off the beach. the hotel is very clean and well kept up. Our room was very nice with a huge bed. we had a lagoon view.from our balcony we could the pool ,beach and ocean.The bathroom is big with a tub and shower. If your going to stay in Tahiti this is the place to stay.
So, I hate to leave a bad review but i think if people are going to stay at these places and spend a lot of money they should be fairly warned about what they are getting into. So, The hotel is really pretty, I was so excited getting there. (anywhere over there is SO pretty) postcard on wheels ya know? I kicked the money for an overwater bungalow and it was pretty nice. My beef with the room was they say it is airconditioned and it is not, the a/c doesn't do squat for the room and as humid as it is you need it/ want it. water there is incredible. The food is horrible at the restaurant, really bad, and really expensive, we finally walked down the driveway to a local little restaurant almost every meal the last 4 days, and that was good. The service at the restaurant not good, they really confirm the old don't like americans scenario. Also i was upset because our travel professional didn't tell us papeete was a layover island and moorea and bora bora are the rad islands. so one day we went to moorea and it was awesome and then we went to bora bora and it was awesome. So, tahiti is great just don't stay on the main island for more than a night. Expect insane humidity, unreal water and scenery, not that great of food, and don't even dream of an ice drink where the ice lasts longer than 2 minutes. If i had to recommend a place that was the nicest on all islands i stayed at would be the intercontinental....thanks for reading.
