Four Points by Sheraton Resort and Casino At Palmas Del Mar, Humacao, Puerto Rico

I was recently at the four points and enjoyed myself. I read recent reviews and was a little hesitate to about staying there...I was happy that I did ; ) The staff were extremely helpful. The other staff were quite helpful in giving direction outside of the complex to visit old San Juan, the Rainforest, Bacardi Distillery, ect. although the packet given to us from the frt. desk need to be revised and be a little more detailed. I think if you ventured outside the complex and enjoy the culture there would be a different outlook of your stay. My boyfriend and I relaxed the first couple of days to familiarize ourselves with the resort. We learned that we did not like Sebastian's, La Brochette was "Great" - alittle expensive but worth it. Outside the resort before the freeway (Hwy. 53) - next to subway's, "Martin's Barbecue" inexpensive with good food, try the chicken with pinto beans or the blk. beans...loved it and the Mofongo...we had a rental car and went out. We wanted to see Puerto Rico. The driving is a different than what we are accustomed to at home. The rush hour traffic coming back from San Juan to Humacao. Overall the four points was a great stay...we enjoyed the beautiful pool & the other vcationers and staff who were really nice and helpful. Our room was cleaned daily, the valet attendants were courteous and always nice. We enjoyed our stay at the four points and in PR. My advice to others is to try for yourself and determine if it was worth you staying their again or even recommending it to others. But I know we will be back next yr. around the same time...less people around.

If you are looking for a relaxing and safe place to stay in PR. look no further than the Four Points in Humacao. The only sounds that you will encounter are those of the Coqui's (local tree frog). The staff is very friendly and the grounds are exceptional. However, not recommended if you are not going to be renting a car because Humacao is approximately 45 minutes to an hour away from San Juan. There were only two downsides to the Four Points in Humacao, 1. The wifi is very slow, even in the common areas 2. The refridgerator stayed cool but NOT cold, so I wouldn't recommend using it for food. So rent a car and GPS (much cheaper than cabs anywhere on the island) and have fun, Puerto Rico is beautiful!!!!

We're experienced travelers, have stayed at many fine resorts around the world. We came to the Sheraton Palmas del Mar not expecting much, but found a terrific getaway and a great value. Hotel management , especially the head manager, and staff were the among the best ever encountered--they accommodated some unusual demands, upgraded rooms, allowed an extra stayover--all graciously. The secret of this place, on five+ miles of uncrowded beach, is its access to a huge private resort/residence property, with several golf courses, an outstanding tennis center and a dozen or so restaurants. One new restaurant, Candelero, was an unbelievable find--all four of us ranked it in our "top five in the world" list---it wasn't even expensive. The rooms are just fine if not extravagant. Wi-Fi hot spots at the pool. We ate only at the informal restaurant deli and the wine bar--quite satisfying. The small restaurant on the beach has excellent burgers and casual food. The Casino has a better atmosphere than most. If you stay for several days, you'll probably need a car to take advantage of the surrounding area; for shorter trips, the hotel will rent you a golf cart. The resort grounds are extremently attractive; lots of places to walk. Vieques island is close by---one can likely rent a boat to take you there. (Hotel is about an hour from the San Juan airport.) Expect almost perfect weather in the late fall/early Spring season. In sum, this isn't the Ritz-Carlton, but the total package is equivalent to a four star beach resort at one-third the price. A low key, friendly atmosphere--uncrowded, unpretentious fellow travelers---a surprising find for relaxing vacationers.

This hotel is tucked away in a manufactured community and has the outward appearance of being somewhere worth staying.But poor service, atrocious internet access, and rip-off extra charges makes it a place to avoid. The "all-in" prepay rate does not include parking where they will hit you for an extra 12 per day. And if you are there in rainy season, you are going to get wet every time you go to your room, which is somewhere in a sprawling complex of buildings exposed to the elements.Badly fitting doors, damp stains in the ceiling, and full exposure to a tropical environment means that you should be too concerned about the collection of bugs you will encounter in your room during your stay.Like the internet, cell phone reception is marginal and leaves you with a feeling of being totally cut off from the rest of humanity.For the money they charge, this was a totally disappointing experience and for a Sheraton, the service was downright disgraceful!

This was our second stay in 6 months there. The staff was friendly and remembered us from our first stay. The staff was more then accommodating.

This hotel needs a major upgrade to the rooms. Air conditioners fail to dehumifidy a room. Everything feels damp. Carpets are in serious need of shampooing or replacement. Too many shortcuts in the restaurant kitchen (microwaving bread, for example).
